In January 1986, I embarked on my
professional journey by joining Sundaram
Clayton Limited (SCL) as a Graduate Engineer
Trainee, a position I secured through campus
placement. That same year, I married my wife,
Kala, and we have been blessed with a daughter,
Shalini. After dedicating 15 years to SCL, I left
my role as General Manager of Information
Systems in September 2000. During my tenure at SCL, I
was instrumental in the company's technological
evolution, migrating legacy mainframe ICL 2905
applications to the then more modern platforms. I also
led the development of an in-house Unix and
Unify-based ERP system. In 2000, with
sponsorship from SCL, I completed an open
university MBA from Milton Keynes, UK. That
same year, I joined the Bank of New York
Mellon, the oldest bank established in 1786 and
the world's leading custodian bank with assets
worth 57 trillion USD(as of Jan 2026). Over the next 17 years, I
contributed significantly to the bank's global
operations, building its offshore IT captive units
in Chennai and Pune, each employing 5000
individuals. I retired in September 2017, holding
the position of Vice President. From working
with mainframes in the 1980s, to corporate
boardrooms in Manhattan, and finally to organic
fields in Mayiladuthurai, my journey has been
one of continuous growth, gratitude, and the art
of living fully at every stage of life. My hobbies
include organic farming, exploring fintech,
travelling, and delving into Saiva Siddhantham. I
look forward to staying in touch. Cheers!
